EuroFGI Workshop on IP QoS and Traffic Control

چکیده
Bulk data transfers in Grids require end-to-end performance guarantees as well as a reliable and efficient transfer mechanism. The specific traffic requirements and environment conditions need to be taken into account as the focus of resource utilization is shifting from power to network resources in data Grids. This article investigates network resource sharing in Grids, especially data Grids. The scheduling of advance resource reservations in Grids was proven to be NP-complete. The existing heuristics for the scheduling of bandwidth requests do not take communication and computation delays and communication overheads into account which are involved in the reliable transfers of such reservations. This paper proposes a flexible, reliable and realistic QoS Mechanism which maximizes acceptance rate and network resource utilization and demonstrates the performance improvement by documenting results of simulations.

متن کاملA Novel Fuzzy Logic Base Scheduling Mechanism for Service Differentiation in IP Networks
Quality of Service (QoS) refers to a set of rules or techniques that help the network administrators use the available network resources optimally to manage the effects of congestion and to treat the applications according to their needs. The differentiated services architecture (DiffServ) allows providing quality of service to users. The major DiffServ premise is that individual flows with sim...
متن کاملInternet QoS Routing with IP Telephony and TCP Traffic
In this paper, we propose the use of QoS routing to enhance the support of IP Telephony. Our proposed scheme is based on QoS intradomain OSPF routing, an extension of the conventional OSPF routing protocol. A Diff Serv model is used (no per flow signalling, nor per flow accounting at intermediate nodes). Processing O/H is shifted from core to edge routers, which compute routes, monitor QoS path...
متن کاملRobust QoS Control for IP-Based Cellular Networks
This paper proposes "Proactive Control and Multipath Control" to realize a robust QoS control system for IP-based cellular networks. In these networks, all kinds of traffic will share the same backbone network. This requires a QoS system that differentiates services according to the required quality. Though DiffServ is thought to be a promising technique for achieving QoS, a technique that is p...
متن کاملAdaptive Link Sharing in QoS aware IP Networks
The exponential growth of the Internet has put a two-fold demand on switches and IP routers–higher bandwidth and lower latency. In addition, new services that support multicast and multimedia applications require sustained bandwidth to support their quality of service (QoS) requirements. To ensure QoS admission control and scheduling have to be implemented within the network for better control....
